The first drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat impotence in men is Viagra, manufactured by Bayer, the pharmaceutical company that will be testing at the new site in New Zealand.
The drug is expected to be marketed at a retail price of $15 in the US, while the price for a generic version will be $21 a month, up about 5% from last year.
Viagra works by relaxing muscles that might lead to erectile dysfunction.
“The problem is the price is not a factor in the market,” Dr David Taylor, the urologist with the New Zealand Men’s Health Division, said.
“We are looking at a generic version of Viagra but with very low cost.
“We have to be careful about the generic name and generic version.”
He added: “I would not be surprised if the drug was introduced in New Zealand this year.”
The drug was approved by the FDA on March 6. It will be available to patients under the guidance of the Health Science and Technology Agency (HSA).
It will be tested at the new site at the Albert-Mauritie hospital.
The company is testing the drug for impotence.
“We believe the results will be important for the NHS,” said Dr Taylor.
The drug is expected to be sold in New Zealand in a generic form for up to $14.99 a month.
The drug has been prescribed to thousands of men across the world who suffer from impotence.
It is currently available as a pill or as a liquid capsule.
Viagra has been tested by doctors in more than 50 countries, including in the US and Europe and also at the New Zealand health care facilities at the Albert-Mauritie Hospital in Otago.
The drug is being tested in New Zealand for erectile dysfunction in men aged 18 and over.
It is the first approved by the FDA to treat impotence in men.
“It is a very exciting drug,” said Dr Taylor.
He added: “It is a very exciting drug.”
He also said it was important that the drug was used as directed by a healthcare professional.
“When the blood vessels in your penis become constricted, it means that there is an increased blood flow to your penis, and that there is a strong sexual response,” he said.
The drug will be tested at the new site at the Albert-Mauritie hospital, which will be sold at about $14.99 a month, with the price going to the drug’s manufacturer.
“We have an amazing chance of being able to give our patients the first-ever, very exciting treatment option for impotence,” said Dr Taylor.
He said the drug could be sold at a retail price of $21 a month.
The price of a generic version of Viagra is around $21 a month. The manufacturer has already approved its generic version of the drug.
